No Verdict In Death Of Hutton
Carl Hutton a salesman at Stubblefield’s Department Store died from a penetrating chest wound with a neck laceration after being found unconscious in his apartment. Justice of the peace C W Carder said no coroner verdict yet though a death certificate had been filed. Autopsy was ordered and then withdrawn. funeral services were held and burial planned in Snyder Oklahoma.

Wallace Attacks Forrestal as War Group Leader
In Baltimore on October 15 Henry A. Wallace denounced Defense Secretary James V. Forrestal as leader of a Washington war group and claimed Forrestal and his Wall Street circle seek world domination. He also cited former Secretary of State James F. Byrnes as proposing a peace program in his memoirs, saying Byrnes favored peace and better understanding with Russia. Wallace spoke at a Progressive Citizens of America rally and warned of a war group forming in Washington.

Phillips Petroleum Company announced a 20 cent per barrel price rise on crude oil in all fields effective at 7 am. In the Panhandle field the price for oil 40 gravity and above becomes 2.15 dollars, a first time in years reaching the 2 dollar level. Other buyers had not announced increases by noon, but are expected to match soon.

Moss Named Amarillo City Manager In New Department Plan
Mr. Moss, 42, named city manager of Amarillo with immediate effect following his acting tenure. The city creates a consolidated public works department headed by H. R. Ballot Upheld in Potter County Alcohol Sales Vote
The Supreme Court of Texas affirmed the December 7 ballot in Precinct 3 Potter County prohibiting alcohol sales in the west precinct. The court refused Lance L. Hurricane slams Savannah as a storm moves through Georgia
A hurricane sweeping from the Atlantic lashed Savannah with 80 to 100 mph winds and caused flooding along the coast. The National Guard reported heavy damage at Chatham airport with several hangars collapsing and two C 47 aircraft destroyed. No local casualties reported, but a man was killed near Charleston.
