Louis Bueche a Pittsburgh window cleaner fell five stories from a office building window ledge and landed on a new 1946 car denting the top. He walked away before being picked up by police ambulance and taken to Mercy Hospital with a fractured spine but no critical injuries.
Missouri congressman Dewey Short campaigns with Frank T. O’Brien in the Panhandle. Short touts Ozark roots, cites Galena population, and vows to cleanse the U S government of the OPA and labor racketeers. He tours KPDN KGNC and KPDA stations and reflects on Germany’s 1920s inflation.
Secretary of the Interior Julius A Krug will visit Amarillo October 22 for inspections of reclamation projects in Tucumcari and Carlsbad New Mexico and a helium plant at Powell The aides say there are no political implications to the trip and Krug seeks to review water shortages and expand helium uses The visit follows a Republican blast alleging a political barnstorming tour by the Secretary
In Borger yesterday afternoon Clarence Walker was seriously injured when a car driven by Charles Bynum failed to turn from Main Street to Second Avenue. The vehicle struck a light standard, toppled drums, and drove into the Borger Herald building four feet above ground, damaging the structure and stock. estimated loss $3,000 to $5,000.
Marvin C. Lee of Dumas died in an ambulance on the way to the Veterans Hospital in Amarillo after a solo-vehicle crash on the Dumas Amarillo highway near Four-Way. The 1940 Chevrolet overturned after leaving the pavement. Lee, a WWI veteran and proprietor of a Dumas paint and wallpaper store, was pronounced dead shortly before arrival. Funeral arrangements are pending with Boxwell Brothers in Dumas.
Athletic committee plans a meeting at Canyon this afternoon to decide the football coaching situation at West Texas State College. Windy Nicklaus was removed as head coach before the 13-12 win over Colorado College, with Gus Miller guiding the team during that victory.

Harlingen, Oct 14. John Osborne, a local hotel operator, was attacked by a coyote in downtown Harlingen. Patrolman Charlie Reece shot the animal after a struggle over the leg ended with the coyote's death. Osborne retains his leg but complains of the ordeal.
