Burn victims Lou Davis and Max Scott, seriously burned in a near Dumas pipeline accident, are reported resting fairly well at St Anthony's Hospital. Seven workers were burned when gas in a ditch ignited. four others are treated at a Dumas hospital and one was released. Davis has extensive burns over a third to half of his body. Scott's injuries are similar but less extensive. The incident occurred about 11:30 yesterday at Shamrock Oil and Gas McKee Plant. gas source remains undetermined.
The First Christian church hosts its regular Weekly fellowship supper in the fellowship hall at 6 30 PM. The Dr. Shelton Bible Class sponsors a covered dish luncheon. This year features monthly book reviews with Dr R C Snodgrass presenting the current review on the autumn Christian World Facts issued by the United Christian Missionary Society. The volume surveys the universal church worldwide and promises engaging insights.
The Ministry of Home Security reports 217 Britons died and 289 were hospitalised after September air raids across the United Kingdom. The count notes civilian casualties and injuries from aerial bombardment during the month.

Market report from Kansas City notes livestock activity with hogs selling unevenly lower by about 5 to 10 cents, cattle steady to moderate, calves light sales, stockers weaker, and sheep driving higher bids. Kansas City prices show hogs at top around 10.55, cattle mostly steady, lambs up about 25 cents with native and Colorado offerings present.
Joe Cooley will assume duties as assistant manager of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce tomorrow, arriving from Shamrock. He succeeds Fountain Works who resigned to join Southwestern Portland Cement Company in El Paso. Cooley has been Shamrock Chamber secretary since November, previously managing Harmon County Chamber of Commerce in Hollis Oklahoma and earlier entering chamber work in Elk City.
Rev. Jordan Grooms will speak at the Workers' Banquet of San Jacinto Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall at 7 15 tomorrow night. The program includes piano solos, readings, and a roca duet. Rev H C Smith will preside. Tickets are 50 cents with proceeds to the World Service Program.
Price Administrator Leon Henderson again urged Phillips Petroleum to delay a planned 25 cent per barrel crude oil price increase. Frank Phillips cited rising discovery costs and labor, material, and tax pressures as justification for an immediate boost, but Henderson said an investigation to reach a fair solution was already underway.
FBI agents took over a case involving two men Raymond Haughtalling of Sodus New York and Eugene Hall of St Louis Missouri after Amarillo police arrested them for stealing a Lincoln Zephyr in Phoenix Arizona. They described a cross country chain of hitchhiking thefts from Barksdale Field to Needles California and Santa Rosa New Mexico before the Phoenix arrest, with Jack Smith of Sheridan Wyoming also implicated.
Roy Helfenbein, Lipscomb County youth, faced draft evasion charges in a federal case before Judge James C. Wilson. Prosecution contends he had six teeth extracted to avoid service, while defense argues extractions were due to medical defects and pain. Helfenbein, born to a Russian immigrant father, was to report for induction March 12, 1941, with teeth pulled in Shattuck Oklahoma and prior removals at a Kansas defense school.
Rites for Mrs E A McKinnon nee Annie Smith former Old Tascosa and Channing schoolteacher were held at Blackburn-Shaw chapel. Former pupils and local residents attended as pallbearers. Survivors include sisters Mrs Wynns of Paris Tennessee Mrs Ward and Mrs Grissom of Fort Worth. Pallbearers listed as Mel Armstrong Jimmie Whitfield Robert Jarrett Jack Farwell Jack Johnson R T Weills.
