RAF Raids Hit Nuernberg and German Ports

RAF crews blasted Nuernberg and other western German targets in a broad night raid involving about 300 bombers to ease pressure on the Soviet front. In a daylight follow up, the RAF attacked the German coast across the Channel, with authorities confirming several ships and docks at Boulogne and Bremen hit.

British Troops Reported Landing at Archangel in Russia

Very hot for this time of the year amid Texas heat records

The Amarillo Weather Bureau reports the highest minimum for Oct 13 at 62 degrees, tying a 1920 record and equalling a 1928 one. Statewide temperatures rose with 94 degrees at Crystal City the high, 78 at Galveston, and no rain expected as Gulf air sustains warmth.

In Pascagoula Mississippi 3000 shipbuilders at Ingalls Shipbuilding Co halted construction on 150 million dollars of defense contracts after a jurisdictional dispute between AFL pipe welders and shell welders. The plant was picketed and 2600 non welding workers did not pass the lines. A federal labor conciliator will arrive today.
