Outfielder Hank Bauer tripled in the sixth inning to score three runs and lift the New York Yankees to a 4-1 lead in game six. A win today would clinch the baseball championship for New York in the World Series.
In the first inning Stanky was retired by McDougald to Mize. Dark struck out. Lockman hit a one hop homer off Raschi for an automatic double. Irvin grounded to Rizzuto for the out. No runs, one hit, one left. For the Yankees, Rizzuto popped to Irvin. Coleman singled. Berra doubled driving Coleman home. DiMaggio was intentionally walked. McDougald fouled out. Mike lined to Stanky. One run, two hits, two left.
In a tense game the Giants fail to score in the second inning despite Rizzuto mishandling a bouncer that led to an infield single by Thomson. No runs, one hit, two left. Yankees also fail to score in the second as Raschi fans, Bauer pauses and Stanky fields. No runs, no hits, none left.

Oslo reports that in Mondays local elections Norways Labour Party extended its lead while Communists lost about one third of their municipal seats. With a nine party field the Reds were far behind, finishing seventh as the Labour party dominated local councils.
Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower flew from Paris to his Atlantic Pact army headquarters in Paris to observe the eight day joint maneuvers in West Germany. He was pleased with the performance of American British and French troops as they trained side by side.
In New York on October 10 a patrolman talked a 19 year old St. Louis boxer Robert Fellhauer down from a hotel ledge. He claimed he would jump after losing his job. The officer used wit and restraint, pulling a cigarette light, then grabbed the youth to prevent the fall and escorted him to psychiatric examination. The officer marked his 14th wedding anniversary that day.
A mob armed with stones and clubs surged through downtown Cairo shouting Down with Britain up with Egypt in anti foreign rioting sparked by Prime Minister Nahas Pasha s denunciation of the Anglo Egyptian treaty. They attacked American and British offices in the Immobilia complex housing AP Superior Oil and other firms, overturned a Coca Cola truck and set fire to items from L Air Liquide and British Thomson Houston. Police contained the crowds as shopkeepers shuttered storefronts.
Four applicants including Zoe Grove Mercedes Presley Rachele Mc Bride and Morris Rosenberg were sworn as United States citizens in Amarillo this morning. Judge Joe B Dooley noted their diverse origins from France Venezuela Italy Cuba and Poland as they joined the American body.
Mexican agents turned Gus Hall across the border early in the morning and U S officers flew him to Texarkana near the Texas Arkansas line. Hall one of four jailed US Communist leaders who jumped bail after conviction under the Smith Act. The Mexican Communist Party protested and sought asylum for Hall, who was picked up by Mexican officers in Mexico City yesterday.
Secretary Snyder testified he pressed James P. Finnegan to resign as St. Louis internal revenue collector in 1950 amid city rumors and amid a tax service probe. Finnegan contended he sought to resign in 1949 and 1950, and that the White House urged him to stay on due to no replacement.
Eight Army reports a US Second Division task force pierced 8 miles into Communist territory near Mundung Valley, destroying Chinese positions and forcing a retreat. Tanks led a 23 mile northward push beyond Heartbreak Ridge as air forces claimed fatalities among MIGs. UN and Communist liaison teams eyed a Sachon River site near Panmunjom for cease fire talks, with no decision yet.
Air Force investigators entered the Old Ham Grocery armed robbery case in Amarillo. A Carswell Air Force Base airman at Fort Worth is a prime suspect in the $3161.24 Saturday morning theft as OST agents from Carswell work with Amarillo officers. The gunman fled in a 1951 Mercury, stolen Friday night and recovered Sunday. Noted second weekend robbery occurred at Lloyd's Service Station, with $175 taken.
A teenage girl testifies about a June 25 incident in which she was forced into a light colored Plymouth, coerced into a series of assaults, and later examined at St. Anthony's Hospital showing physical molestation. The court hears Dr. Aronson's findings as the trial proceeds.
Longchamps Inc a New York restaurant firm files suit in federal court seeking an injunction to bar Homer Rice operator of Long Champ Dining Salon Amarillo from using Long Champ or any confusingly similar name. The action seeks damages an accounting and a ban on use on letterheads advertising or other materials to prevent unfair competition and confusion. Citations were served at the Long Champ Dining Salon.
Clarice Tate daughter of Mr and Mrs C E Tate of 731 Aldridge is crowned queen elect for Amarillo High School 1951 52. At 17 she was chosen this morning on the ballot with Back to School Night coronation set for November 15. Runner up is Carol Hamilton daughter of Mr and Mrs G B Hamilton of 1012 West Sixteenth. The forecast calls for fair conditions with gradually rising temperatures today tonight and Thursday. Highs around 83 today 85 tomorrow with lows near 49 and 48. No major rainfall expected in the Panhandle outlook. continued fair skies across West Texas and New Mexico with little temperature change.
Singapore October 10 government announces plans to intensify land sea and air forces to speed end of Malaya’s jungle war with Communist guerrillas.
Vernon Slape, among eight men charged in Amarillo bribery graft, has long clashed with federal revenue and Texas liquor authorities since 1929. Once a liquor store operator, Slape faced multiple probes from 1929 to 1936, including a 1929 liquor transport conviction and 1936 records of falsifying books, with later federal conspiracy to defraud charges. Dallas October 10 General Motors president C E Wilson warned that government emergency measures threaten free society with regimentation. He urged removing price and wage controls during defense, warning of autocratic drift if policies persist. He cited Civil War like arrests for odd acts and noted defense production consumes a small share of steel output.
Wilson noted that despite claims of expanding output, steel remains rationed, counter to steel industry recommendations. He added that GM aims to construct a new plant on a 250 acre site between Dallas and Fort Worth, though plans are not yet finalized.
A group of radio station employees tore up $1,000 in overtime paychecks after Wage and Hour Division findings showed un paid overtime. Manager Jack Neil presented the checks at a meeting as workers voiced defiance against government timing of work and wages.
