Army Adopts Lightweight Carbine to Replace Pistol

New Arms Plant Opens Tomorrow in Missouri
The War Department and Remington Arms plan to dedicate a $22 million ordnance plant tomorrow on 3200 acres in Jackson County Missouri. At peak production 8000 workers will be employed with an annual payroll of 7 to 10 million dollars. The plant will manufacture 30 and 50 caliber rifle and machine gun bullets for the U S army.

Linc Price Boost Effect Not Known and Bruderlins Statement
The effect of zinc price increases announced in Washington by Leon Henderson on the Argillo smelter of the American Smelting and Refining Company is not yet known. F. J. Bruderlín, smelter superintendent, said the ore price rise followed slab zinc price gains, with slab zinc at 55.28 per ton. The higher ore prices trigger wage increases for zinc and lead miners on a sliding scale, about 75 cents per day for mine workers.
