The U S Navy destroyer Roper ran aground in Groton harbor near Electric Boat Co plant while operating with submarine maneuvers from the New London base. Navy officials withheld details and called for divers and salvage gear at the submarine base.

In Norwood Massachusetts William Johnson a robber in custody hanged himself in his cell after a spree that included feeding a cat with sardines. He told police his victims were all liars before his death.
Worcester report describes the Cratherns family using a trailer to transport horses. They prefer riding their own horses and enjoy traveling, equipping the trailer with horsey comforts for their journeys.
