The wife of Chicago police Captain Luke Garrick died from injuries after bomb blasts struck their home on September 8 and a Yellow Cab garage nearby. Anne Evangeline Garrick had been ill and suffered bomb shock before her death, with dangers felt toward her husband and son, prompting raids by fellow officers after her passing.

Directors of the Community Chest were elected at a meeting at the Board of City Development. Officers will be chosen from the directors at a 7 20 o clock meeting next Tuesday night. Boy Scout and Girl Scout officials requested withdrawal from the Chest and were granted. A drive date is not set. a budget review meeting will occur soon. Directors elected last night include one year terms: G C Saunders, T B O'Brien, G C Nobles, L L Ferree, I H Davies. Two year terms: W W Davis, Gus Leftwich, J B Driskell, S J Braunig, G Odom. Three year terms: Robert Lynn, Fred Bone, J A Rogers, J T Moore, H V Knupp.

A ten year old youth allegedly stabbed another boy with a knife and was held at Potter County Jail awaiting juvenile court action. He was arrested this morning on the injured boy's parents complaint. The seriousness of the wounds was not learned. Both boys attend school.

Senator Joseph T. Robinson, Democratic vice presidential nominee, moved his California tour toward Herbert Hoover’s hometown area with speeches in San Francisco. Abundant southern rains revived ranges and feed crops promise adequate local supply despite a few patches.
John McGregor, an engineer, was killed and several passengers injured when a Wabash passenger train collided with a freight near Stevenaville, Niagara Falls Ont. The freight was on a siding and the rear did not clear the main line before the passenger ploughed through.
The Court of Criminal Appeals denied the second motion for a rehearing by Robert Silver of Fort Worth. Governor Moody had granted a third stay of execution until October 26 to allow the court to act on the motion.
Lewis Shorty Avritt of Amarillo, missing since August 8 after being forced to drive a passenger through the Southwest, has been released at McAllen Texas. A telegram signed S Avritt notified Orville Benton owner of Hammond Taxi that Avritt would drive the taxi back to Amarillo. He described his captor as a dangerous character and said they traveled into Old Mexico. Mrs Avritt will travel to Amarillo to join his parents and confirm the release.
