Stabilization Agency Head Named For New Controls
Dr. Alan Valentine, 49, educator and businessman from Rochester New York, was named to head the new Economic Stabilization Agency. President Truman announced the appointment after his Chesapeake Bay cruise aboard the Williamsburg. The White House indicated Valentine would staff the wage board and price stabilization director roles as the ESA forms. Cyrus S. Ching of the Federal Mediation Service weighed a possible chairmanship of a nine member wage stabilization board, with indications he may accept if urged by the President. Valentine is a Republican who resigned as president of the University of Rochester in June.
