Attorney General Jackson told a House committee hearing that he never ruled that defense contracts should be denied to companies found to have violated the Wagner act. He said any such interpretation was wholly erroneous and that his informal opinion said agency decisions are binding on other departments.
Mrs Breeze Warner, an experienced social worker formerly with the Y W C A in Oklahoma City, is appointed assistant to the secretary of the Potter County Red Cross chapter. Mrs Floyd Cooper serves as chapter secretary.

John Albert Holstrom about 50 a Chicago resident was killed when his car overturned on Highway 66 nine miles east of the New Mexico line. His wife was seriously injured and their son Edwin 18 escaped injury. Investigating officers said tire blowout caused the crash. The body lay at Doughty Funeral Home in Tucumcari.
Beechler of the San Jacinto Kiwanis Club withdrew from the lieutenant governors race at the Kiwanis district convention in Oklahoma City this morning in favor of Foy Curry of Tulsa. All three Amarillo Kiwanis clubs back Fay for the job. Retiring lieutenant governor of the Parhand le division is W G Pill McMillan of Lubbock and the immediate past lieutenant governor Erwin Ochsner of Amarillo.
The navy moved to acquire 53 merchant vessels to support a two ocean fleet and hastened mobilization of reservists. Twenty two vessels have contracts or are in final stages, to be converted into tenders oilers hospital and supply ships with a $75 million budget. An additional 31 vessels will join to fulfill similar roles. The navy also purchased 30 smaller craft for about $7 million to be fitted as mine sweepers and submarine chasers.
Khiva Temple of the Mystic Shrine will hold its regular monthly meeting tomorrow night at headquarters in the Amarillo Hotel. Plans for the full form ceremonial on November 20 will be discussed. West Texas State College presents a business English course under the Tri-State Association of Credit Men sponsorship. Dr A K Knott will direct the class starting at 8 o'clock tonight at the Capitol. About 30 business people expected to enroll at the meeting. Open to all interested in business English.
J F Bennett national president of the Railway Mail Association and William J McCain eleventh division president were honored guests at a banquet in the Amarillo Hotel. E V Harris presides over the Amarillo branch with 31 members as part of a national body exceeding 22 000 members. The visitors departed for Oklahoma City after talks on members concerns.
Johnny Campbell, 13, Pampa football captain and leader of the Mr. Worley Goes to Washington Club, helped arrange a radio trip for Gene Worley to New York. Worley initially declined to travel to register in Shamrock on Oct 16 but then agreed to go after Johnny’s persistence.

Amarillo businessmen praise Braniff Airways new route to Oklahoma City opening November 1. Oil and cattle industry leaders including Lawrence Hagg Jay Taylor and H O Stark say the service saves time and improves access to Tulsa Bartlesville and oil centers, boosting local industry.
There are openings in the advance flight training course under the Civil Aeronautics Authority at English Airport. Eligible pilots who passed CPTP tests and hold a private license may enroll if they pass a physical exam and pay 34 dollars. Mrs. Mary Ida Stovaugh 77 suffers a broken hip and other injuries after being struck by a auto driven by Leo Roberts of Lubbock at Seventh Avenue and Fillmore Street. She remains serious but resting as well as could be expected at St. Anthony's Hospital with a Boxwell Brothers ambulance taking her there.
George Scalise, former president of the Building Service Employees International Union, already sentenced to 10 to 20 years for grand larceny and forgery, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Brooklyn for alleged income tax evasion.

Funded by Countess Catherine E Price of Greenwich Conn memorial to her late husband Lucien B Price, the project costs about 18000 dollars.
