Washington reports the October 1 condition at 53.5 percent of normal with a forecast production of 12,499,000 bales for the season, down 97,000 bales from September 16 estimates. New Orleans notes cotton futures fell after the forecast despite traders' expectations of larger cuts.
Judge W. H. Brummett, longtime county pioneer, is sworn in as Amarillo corporation judge succeeding A. L. Anderson who remains as police court clerk and desk sergeant. Brummett previously held the post when the commission form of government began.
The Washburn Texas post office was robbed Saturday night of 150 dollars in currency from a vault. Postmaster H F B White reported the vault door was found open Sunday morning and notified postal authorities.
Bishop Z. Bishop of the Bishop Lee company returned yesterday after an extensive tour over southern and eastern Texas, visiting multiple communities and promoting their offerings.
The Amarillo cotton gin on East Third street near the Great West Mill and Elevator is being expanded from four to five stands with eighty saws. An expert mechanic supervises installation of new machinery from Dallas firm Gullett Gin Machinery. Transfer of property to W L Williams of Harmony Oklahoma marks a $2500 bonus from Amarillo citizens for the project.
Wayland Baptist college in Plainview hosted its annual homecoming with several hundred alumni in attendance despite rain. Dr. C. V. Herndon of Dallas discussed a seven million dollar campaign to place Wayland and Baptist institutions on a state budget system. Other speakers included R. A. Scranton of Plainview and Lynn Claybrook of Canyon. G. M. McDonald, the college president, welcomed guests and presided.
A group of notable oil executives arrived in Amarillo last night and visited the Panhandle field today to survey conditions and progress over the past month. Visitors include H. H. Lee KB G. Fleeter Frank Culliman from Houston and E. KE Chusman of Webb City Okla. and K. L. Malsby of the Gulf Production company.
Funeral services for Col William Green Sreett age 77, veteran southwest newspaper man and longtime Dallas resident, will be at 4 p m today at his home after a sudden heart trouble illness. He remained active in newspaper work until stricken. The Coffee Shop at the Amarillo Hotel is Famous For Food.

Biscehall, a Fort Worth catcher, is with the Chicago Americans. Ernest Vache from Dallas lands with the Boston Americans. Wilstan Bagwell, a Galveston outfielder, is with the Philadelphia Americans.
The Ferguson injunction case was certified to the Texas Supreme Court by the Third Court of Civil Appeals. The panel sent the matter up without arguments to decide if a woman can legally hold office in Texas and related questions about Miriam A Ferguson’s gubernatorial ballot status.
The New York Giants defeated Washington ace Walter Johnson 6 to 2 at the Polo Grounds to move ahead three games to two in the series. Bentley earned the win while Johnson took the loss as Frisch, Terry and others contributed notable hits and plays in a tense game.
