Henry Letter Is Discovered With Uncashed Check
An old ledger in the Texas General Land Office yielded a letter by O. Henry and a $2,500 check from Maddox Brothers and Anderson Austin. Bascom Giles identified the handwriting as O. Henry’s, noting his later work at the office. The dated documents remain uncashed and forgotten in the records.
