Stiff breezes and dust did not dampen opening day at the High Plains exposition. Don Acker, a Castro County 4-H boy, won the Sears Foundation hog show grand champion with a Chester White. his cousin Jack Acker, from Nazareth, also topped the boar judging. The Castro County pair led a double win amid tough opposition under Raymond King. Judges also evaluated agricultural exhibits with Shamrock High School earning top honors and Canyon High School FFA second. Mrs. John Barton won the crochet contest with a loving cup to be awarded.

Petroleum Engineers Meet Here In Amarillo
About 150 engineers attended the opening of the American Society of Engineers petroleum division conference in Amarillo with registration at the Herring Hotel. James S.
