Pampa Fire Destroys Skelly Oil Warehouse

A morning blaze at the Skelly Oil warehouse on East Tyng Street in Pampa caused about 50,000 dollars in damage. Five explosions rocked the scene, with gasoline, lubricants, tires, and equipment burned. no injuries reported among roughly 25 firefighters. The fire was contained by 11:30 with only minimal nearby property threatened.

Tip Leads to Arrest of Smelter Workers Here

A tip from a investigating informant led Amarillo police to arrest two smelter workers, Livesay and Stevens, in connection with the Blocher slaying. Livesay was seized at the smelter around 5:15 pm while Stevens was taken into custody near noon. Bailey County and Farwell officers, with Texas Rangers, aided by Sheriff Hugh Freeman and Detective W. C. Alexander, pursued leads. Livesay, previously with a misdemeanor record, and Stevens, with no Amarillo police record, are held in Potter County jail. both deny statements today. A reward fund aims to $2000 for information leading to arrests and convictions.
