In Los Angeles, October 2, the Alexander Pantages trial proceeds with eleven jurors selected as prosecutors aim to wrap up the case in three days. The state opened with a surprise move in the prosecution strategy against Eunice Pringle, 17, alleging criminal assault by the theater magnate.
In a pretrial move, Judge Fricke dismissed a second assault charge against Pantages to avoid conflict with a recent appellate ruling. The defense questioned jurors about bias, excluding those prejudice due to Pantages’s wife’s manslaughter conviction. The state aimed to prove the defendant’s act with a 17 year old coed dancer as Miss Pringle. the defense sought to show she was over 16.
