Western Show of A H 8 Directed by Ernestine Mercer

Trinity University sophomore Ernestine Mercer returns to Amarillo High School to direct and script Western Show of A H 8. The Glee Club dresses in cow boy costumes and performs western and patriotic numbers at 10:30 AM Monday in the high school auditorium with various specialty acts and student musicians. Tri-State Singers Plan Big Songfest in Amarillo

The Tri-State Singers will stage a major all day songfest on December 7 at Municipal Auditorium in Amarillo. It is free to the public with singers traveling from Texas New Mexico Colorado Oklahoma and Kansas. Stamps-Baxter Songfellows from Wichita Falls join the Amarillo Community Singers quartet including B. R. Wingrove Eula Mae Bittick Doris Bittick and W. T. Copeland coordinating.

November 30 Split Tax Payment Deadline Extended

The Nov 30 deadline for paying the first half of current taxes under the split payment system falls on Sunday, so Amarillo School system will accept payments on Monday. No first half split payments may be made after Monday.

Livestock Prices Mixed as Market Slows in Kansas City

Kansas City Missouri November 28 Livestock offerings total 3100 head with hogs at 1 700 head and cattle 400 calves 150. Hog prices steady to 5 lower with top at 10.10 while vealers hold 11.00 to 12.50. Lambs lag slightly with top around 11.00 as sheep volume reaches 1 000 head and stockers remain steady. Vera Zorina noted for charcoal sketches as market data closes.

Frank Phillips Celebrates 68th Birthday Anniversary

Oklahoma City Frank Phillips of Bartlesville the millionaire marked his 68th birthday with news that he and Mrs. Phillips added 550000 to the Frank Phillips Foundation Inc. The foundation funds total 1300000 with about 750000 already spent or pledged since December 1, 1937.

Mayor Jenkins Signs Bond Refunding Request

Mayor Joe Jenkins oversees Amarillo bond refinancing of 121000 dollars to cut interest charges. J M Barker, city auditor, will take the signed bonds to Austin for attorney general approval by next Tuesday.

Del Rio and Welles Plan Soon Marriage in Hollywood

Orson Welles and Dolores Del Rio expect to wed soon after her divorce from Cedric Gibbons becomes final January 18. The pairing marks Del Rio’s third marriage after the death of first husband James Del Rio and a 1930 divorce from Gibbons. Welles will be marrying for the second time.
