A damage suit against Sheriff W. M. Adams and former deputy Roy Brewer by Donald Mann was dismissed in 108th district court on motion of the plaintiff. Mann alleged false arrest and beatings. Judge W. E. Gee granted the motion. Adams' office collected $6.50 in witness fees.
A fire in Denison killed Navy 28 and his wife Florence 50 both described as negroes. The blaze destroyed their house today with both victims burned to death.
The third session of Scouters University an annual training school for Boy Scout leaders will be held at 7:30 at Amarillo High School armory. Over 100 Amarillo and Panhandle businessmen attended the first two sessions. Tonight plans will be made for an outdoor class at Palisades State Park. Open to all men interested in boys and boys problems.
Mrs. Jack Brown, 44, long-time Amarillo resident, died at 4 a.m. in a local hospital after a prolonged illness. She leaves husband Jack Brown and four daughters in Borger, Amarillo, Tulsa and Santa Fe, plus two brothers and a sister. Her body rests at Blackburn Shaw Funeral Chapel pending arrangements.
Dr. Kent W. Berry and three companions were found guilty of kidnapping and torturing Irving E. Baker. Jurors recommended life imprisonment for all four defendants. sentencing to follow. Berry claimed a frameup and vowed to appeal. co defendants included Robert H. Smith William Macaloon and James Redditick.
Mrs. C. M. Rogers and daughters Ruth and Virginia return from visiting friends in Dallas and Terrell. They accompanied Mr. Rogers to Dallas where he attended the Texas State Teachers Association annual convention.

Walker of Corpus Christi Junior College serves as secretary of the planning committee along with W. P. Akin J. R. McLemore and B. E. Masters, all junior college leaders.
Bert Levy Exalted Ruler of the Amarillo Elks Lodge and Mark Perry executive secretary flew to Dallas by Braniff this morning to attend a state Elks meeting. Houston Lodge officers will stage an initiation ceremony this evening as part of the program. Levy and Perry plan to return to Amarillo by air after the meetings.
Gold valued at 7,448,000 dollars was shipped from Plymouth England to the United States today aboard the freighter Noordam.
Thelma Niona Skipper a 17 year old Amarillo resident died this morning at 10 o clock in a local hospital after a brief illness. She is survived by her parents Ray O Backus of Plainview and Mrs Hazel Evans of Stuebenville. She lived with her grandparents Mr and Mrs E J Skipper 1101 Garfield for several years. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors.
The Amarillo Public Schools will hand out the second six weeks report cards to students Wednesday. Superintendent C. M. Rogers announced that cards are to be taken home for parent signatures.
