A night of extreme cold and heavy snow across the Midwest adds eleven to the toll. Five traffic deaths in Ohio, three in Indiana, and three in Chicago accompany numerous power outages and closed airports. A window washer and several other pedestrians die in icy incidents as blizzard conditions extend across Wisconsin Minnesota and the Dakotas.
Jimmy Tally, Amarillo native known as the Texas terror, lies wounded in Huntsville state prison hospital after a daylight robbery in McClendon, his fourth or fifth escape. He is 40 with sentences over a century. Police were alerted to watch for him after the escape spree.
In a prison truck escape attempt at a wood camp near Huntsville three guards and several convicts were wounded while two convicts died from gunfire. Wheeler McCulley and Tony Corona were killed. Tom Shook Argyle Guyton and F C Ross were wounded. Tally was recaptured in Dallas.

Federal narcotics agents with Lubbock and Plainview officers arrested three men in Plainview. J. A. Hicks alias Nig Hix, the alleged ring leader, is charged with narcotic violations. Officers found narcotics in a mailed package valued at 2500 dollars.
A full Thanksgiving football schedule features Amarillo Junior College Badgers at Butler Field against Wayland College at 2 30. Injuries and suspensions loom as West Texas Buffaloes meet Mc Murry Indians in Canyon. Amarillo High School Sangies travel to Wichita Falls for key district game with title on line and possible bi district showdown if winners emerge.
In the House of Columns a black haired spectacled defendant M Kuprianov faces eight defendants charged with fomenting a plot to overthrow the Soviet government aided by foreign powers. Judge smoke filled proceedings as lawyer probes defendant while Professor L K Ramzin sits near the bench with sound amplifiers.
The Chicago Tribune argues Governor Dan Moody harmed Chicago by withdrawing support, noting Texas cities San Antonio and Fort Worth have higher murder rates. The piece cites Justice Department data for 1980 nine months and ranks cities by murders per 100000. Chicago is listed at 28.26, while San Antonio and Fort Worth show higher ratios.

Carlo Hefner faces murder charges in the death of Homer Crabtree, a McLean rancher whose body was found with a crushed face near LeFors. The trial proceeded Nov 27 with Lefors constable Bob Walls testifying about the discovery and Hefner's arrest. Bremett Thomson faces the same charge in a separate trial.

William D. Lott known as the Runt and assistant to Frank Galbreath, street circulation manager of the Globe News, remains in Northwest Texas Hospital after a Yellow Cab struck him at Third and Polk Streets shortly after 6 this morning. Lott, a mid et, suffers cuts, bruises, and a severe head wound but is not considered in critical danger. The cabbie, R. B. Brown, is booked on reckless driving charges with a hearing set for Friday. Amarillo residents are excited after radiogram confirmed Santa Claus will arrive with his reindeer on December 11. The News reports Santa and wife Mary Christmas are preparing, with bands and parades planned, and the reindeer Prancer Dancer Dasher eager for the journey. Santa will write daily updates on preparations for the visit.
