Wounded in Texas Prison Break

Jimmy Tally, Amarillo native known as the Texas terror, lies wounded in Huntsville state prison hospital after a daylight robbery in McClendon, his fourth or fifth escape. He is 40 with sentences over a century. Police were alerted to watch for him after the escape spree.

Amarillo man in attack on prison guards riot at Huntsville

In a prison truck escape attempt at a wood camp near Huntsville three guards and several convicts were wounded while two convicts died from gunfire. Wheeler McCulley and Tony Corona were killed. Tom Shook Argyle Guyton and F C Ross were wounded. Tally was recaptured in Dallas.

Street Man Hit By Cab In Early Morning Crash

William D. Lott known as the Runt and assistant to Frank Galbreath, street circulation manager of the Globe News, remains in Northwest Texas Hospital after a Yellow Cab struck him at Third and Polk Streets shortly after 6 this morning. Lott, a mid et, suffers cuts, bruises, and a severe head wound but is not considered in critical danger. The cabbie, R. B. Brown, is booked on reckless driving charges with a hearing set for Friday. Santa to visit Amarillo December 11 in Panhandle

Amarillo residents are excited after radiogram confirmed Santa Claus will arrive with his reindeer on December 11. The News reports Santa and wife Mary Christmas are preparing, with bands and parades planned, and the reindeer Prancer Dancer Dasher eager for the journey. Santa will write daily updates on preparations for the visit.
