Arthur Brisbane reports a wave of storms and political commentary as typhoons lash seas and droughts endanger cities. He notes Hoover aboard the Maryland facing gale conditions while other global disasters unfold and public figures discuss wealth, science, and population.
London dispatches report a courier was sent to meet the Prince on the road from his hunting camp to Dodoma amid anxiety over King George's serious illness. Officials at St James Palace deny any recall of the Prince to England as rumors spread.
Ray Daniels of Southwestern Life Insurance. in company with R. M. Allred Joe Allred and L. B. Fowler of Wildorado returns from a Mason county Texas deer hunt with seven bucks. The group notes two nine pointers four six pointers and one three pointer.
Sid Hardin of Mission Texas testified before the House Election Campaign Committee that he withdrew charges of excessive expenditures and illegal voting in Congressman John Garner’s bid for re election in the Fifteenth Texas district due to threats of indictment for libel.
Commander Richard E. Byrd leads fifty expedition members from Dunedin to the Bay of Whales if Ross Sea ice reports are favorable. They sail on the City of New York while Eleanor Bolling makes two supply trips and winter stays in Dunedin. Byrd says the team will be on the ice for a year and six months, pursuing science rather than a stunt.
After one day of solicitation Amarillo's Community Chest reports more than 7500 in cash and pledges. Oil company officials and auto dealers boosted totals with 5300 from the downtown group and 550 from dealers. Mrs. Anna Taylor says the books are swamped and noon figures are incomplete as Chest directors meet later this afternoon.
Weldon C. Bush was arrested last night on a forgery charge after a complaint by Mrs. Dan Oatsmith. He was transferred to county officials for grand jury investigation this morning.
Paris reports that France on court advice refused to honor the U S extradition request for H M Blackmer the missing Teapot Dome witness. The indictment in Denver charges him with filing false income tax returns the French claimed the offense was primarily political.
Governor Moody told the joint committee that he opposes dividing the state into districts to elect highway commissioners. He proposed three subcommittees on highway finance licensing and weight fees, and road use restrictions, while praising progress in 1927 1928 and the commission’s maintenance work.
The Maryland anchored off Corinto Nicaragua as Hoover and party prepared to land. In Amapala and La Union he spoke of friendship and mutual understanding between the United States and democracies of the Americas, noting shared pledges to independence and respect.
A first class bedroom steward testified he escaped the sinking Vestris in a life boat that held 15 men and was less than one third full. He said when he proposed rescuing passengers a fireman threatened to strike him with an oar. The hearing is before the U S Steamboat Inspection Service.

F W Williams of Karnes City and Hy Mays of Kenedy were killed after Williams armed a rifle during a domestic dispute at Williams home near Karnes City. Mays returned fire, fatally wounding both men in the early hours yesterday.
Amarillo Airport commission and J E Biggs secretary plan to review Banks Jones plans for a large 90 foot wide hangar and new administration offices. The panel will evaluate specifications before bidding. Officials advise prioritizing a large hangar over club facilities and auxiliary rooms.
Flo pilot Leonard Flo completed a non stop route from Walkerville Ontario to Cuba and passed over Tampa at 12 41 p m today. Ambulance services Griggs ambulance listed with two local phone numbers were present or advertised in the notice.
