OPA releases outline planned tire recapping and tire eligibility under the national mileage rationing program. Recaps and new tires would be issued by quotas to rationing boards, while enforcement and theft prevention measures accompany mileage books. Local rationing workers, after long hours, take Thanksgiving off amid unpopularity of the program.
Thousands of servicemen and families attended a Thanksgiving dinner at Amarillo Field featuring 9,400 pounds of turkey and 7,800 pounds of ham. The menu included oyster soup roast turkey Virginia baked ham and a full dessert lineup.
