Snowfall Covers Panhandle Miles With Comparatively Light Accumulation
Snow blanketed the Panhandle Plains last night in depths ranging from 150 to 300 miles as Amarillo logged three and a half inches. Forecaster H. T. Collman said the storm was ending with clearing skies and rising temperatures. Football fans awaited word on the Amarillo Sandies versus Lubbock Westerners game at Butler Field with the field cleared of snow. Temperatures fell to 27 during the night and rose to 32 by afternoon. Highways remained passable but slippery with thawing, trains ran on schedule, and buses were on time to most points.
