United Nations urged to withdraw foreign troops from Palestine

The Soviet Union submitted a formal resolution to the UN calling for the withdrawal of Arab and other foreign troops and observers from Palestine. Dr. Ralph Bunche noted over 500 foreign military observers on UN truce teams in the region as Arabs and Zionists NH talks continue, while Fawzi warned there would be no negotiations mediated by the UN. Thanksgiving Day emphasized sharing and international aid through the Marshall Plan as Americans celebrated with family, travel, and turkey dinners, despite some displaced persons aboard ships.

Wortham case yields lie detector tests and family strain

Horn in Boy's Throat Shocks Omaha Officials

A horn lodged in Billy Carpenter's throat caused a dramatic chain of events. Hijacking at Dickson Drug Store in Amarillo

An Amarillo man was held in police custody after a hijacking at Dickson Drug Store on Polk Street. Burglary Suspects Wounded as Police Nab Two

Police wounded one man and arrested two others after a newsprint theft attempt at Hub Clothiers, Polk Street. James Wade, 19, 101 Harrison, is hospitalized with gunshot injuries to the left knee and right thigh. Detectives say officers Aycock and Blanks tried to stop a fleeing group seen loading suitcases from the rear of the store.

Officer recalls shootout after alley pursuit

The officer described firing ten shots from a 38 caliber automatic after blocking a car's exit in an alley near Sixth Avenue. He said the suspect's vehicle backed, scraped a door, and he believed his first shot shattered the rear window during the chase.
