Tanker Rescue By Pacific Navy Group Off Iwo Jima
Clide Lin Amerson a radarman third class and a Pacific Navy Service Force team saved 75 tanker crew survivors in a typhoon off Iwo Jima. The group reached 300 yards offshore as the vessel was abandoned and moved injured to the beach. Each rescuer braved heavy surf with lines and without lines to pull survivors to safety. All crewmen and rescuers were accounted for.

Fireman On Submarine Takes 30 Day Leave
