Berlin reports the government imposed a 20 percent levy on all Jewish property over $2,000 to fund a 4.6 million dollar fine on the Jewish community. Foreign Jews exempt. mixed marriages taxed for Jewish portion only. Payments due in four installments by Dec 15, Feb 15, May 15, and Aug 15.
Panhandle farmer O. T. Hewett reports 35 to 40 white and black leghorn and Rhode Island chickens stolen from his farm 12 miles north of Borger on the Canadian River have been injected with coyote poison. Hewett alerts Amarillo markets and meat buyers to inspect birds before sale to prevent poisoning.
The Amarillo postoffice will be closed all day tomorrow in observance of Thanksgiving Day. All windows will be closed and no deliveries will be made.
