In Reykjavik on November 2, Lieutenant (junior grade) Douglas Fairbanks toured the city with U S naval officers. The Hollywood figure drew crowds as Icelandic girls lined up in the Borg Hotel lobby seeking his autograph while an admiral stood by in dress whites. Fairbanks called serving in the navy a duty during wartime and said he fears nothing ahead.

Fort Worth reports Policeman John Nash said Thanksgiving dinner tasted better than any other, after healing from a shotgun wound that pierced his stomach 52 times in August. Nash, 55, was hospitalized but recovered, losing 40 pounds. he planned to go home the next day.

WEST PALM BEACH FLORIDA NOV 21 Toto the gorilla crushed her pet cat Principe when a freight train ran into the circus cage. The cage overturned and Toto was uninjured. The incident halted Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey loading for about an hour.
