Two Killed as Zephyr Collides with Truck Near Dallas
A Texas Zephyr passenger train collided with a steel truck at a grade crossing near Dallas. Driver Arthur Spearman of Houston died instantly while train engineer D. B. Sewell of Wichita Falls was fatally injured. Several crew and passengers from Wichita Falls, Dallas, Buffalo and Amarillo sustained fractures, burns, or serious injuries. some aboard reported escaping injury.

Rest Camp Opens For Soldiers At Fort Washington
Portsmouth New Hampshire troops from the 1st Corps Area use a recreation reservation on the old Fort Washington site by the Piscataqua River. About 500 soldiers can be housed, mainly from Fort Devens, with baseball softball and other outdoor games provided in the earthwork bowl. Dances are planned by a citizens committee and selected soldiers with good conduct privileges may visit on weekends. Motor convoys will sometimes transport personnel to the camp.
