Auto Drivers Urged to Refuse Hitch-Hikers
Fred H. Galle of the Panhandle Auto Club urged car owners to refuse lifts to strangers citing rising highway violence against motorists. He noted eight states have banned hitch-hiking and warned drivers can be liable for injuries to riders. He referenced a Waco case where a hitch-hiker murdered a motorist after being given a ride.
