Six Hurt As Auto Hits Bus East of McLean

Double Slaying Described In Pampa Court
In Pampa, Nov. 19, the state opened its case against Jeff Crawford in a double murder trial. Testimony from 9 year old Mattie Lee Wright described the shooting of Mrs. Bertha Bostick and her husband Leonard C. Bostick on July 4, 1947, at their home. The girl testified Crawford fired first missing the wife as she lay on a bed and then shot her husband as he rose. She said Crawford then shot the wife as she knelt beside her husband. Crawford’s lawyers fought the child’s testimony but were overruled. The girl added details about her mother’s past marriage to Crawford and a prior street fight. Deputy Jim Guthrie quoted Crawford saying I shot them when arrested. Crawford surrendered a foreign 7.65mm pistol and has been free on bond.
