Sleet and Koreans fail to stop allied drive Vernon picket routed

In Vernon Texas Western Electric pickets faced a crowd that told them to leave as the nationwide telephone strike began. US forces including the 24th Division and First Cavalry pressed the front near Yongbyon and Yongson with ROK Second Corps recapturing road positions southwest of Yongbyon amid Chinese counterattacks. Six Texas cities including Vernon saw pickets, with reporter Jack Burney witnessing portions of the scene.
