Dr. G. L. Yates of First Baptist and Rev. M. Garrett of Second Baptist left for Wichita Falls to attend the annual Baptist State convention. Dr. J. E. Nunn and W. H. Fuqua, leading Amarillo laymen, plan to depart tonight with other local men to join the opening of the convention.
A window in the rear of the Cooper-Irvin Motor Company on East Fourth street was smashed last night. Police records suggest a possible entry, though nothing appears to be missing.

Major Victor M. Locke faces murder charges in Antlers Oklahoma where county attorney Louis B. Gossett opened the case saying a two year feud led to the death of Abner Battiest, 24, a Choctaw Indian. Evidence began after Gossett, a Five Civilized Tribes agency employee, outlined the state's case as Locke remained stoic through the testimony.
Amarillo residents faced claims that local doctors advised parents of crippled children to ignore treatment plans from Dr. Earl McBride and Oklahoma City assistants. J N Beasley, chair of the committee arranging the clinic, urged full disclosure of plans, disputing alleged attempts to hamper the program aiding numerous children.
Amarillo workers across three firms have given a hundred percent of a day’s pay to the Community Chest as part of a local campaign aiming to raise forty five thousand dollars for six charities. General chairman Guy Saunders notes strong participation and anticipates more firms reporting completion of their pledges tonight.

One year old Boy C Hurts Junior Coughran son of Mr and Mrs James Coughran 1211 Johnson street was struck by a car at Thirteenth and Pierce today enroute home from school He was taken to a local physician for emergency care and it is believed not seriously hurt though internal injuries may be ruled later Police say J H Cox of the El Paso Paving Company drove the car.
Representative Snell, Republican New York, urged immediate operation of the Muscle Shoals nitrate plant for fertilizer, support for a Boulder Dam bill limiting government control of business, a $225 million tax cut, navy funding, and a farm relief measure he called economically sound.
The National Aeronautic Association announced Captain Hawthorne Gray set a new world altitude record during a balloon flight that ended in his death. His balloon reached 42,470 feet before the oxygen tube failure. the prior record of 35,424 feet was held by Soring and Berson, Gormans, in 1901.
Henry Ford is named as defendant in a chancery suit for $6,000,000 filed in Pontiac Michigan on November 15 by Henry M. Leland and Wilfred C. Leland on behalf of nearly 2,000 Lincoln Motor Company stockholders. The action stems from February 1922 when Ford bought Lincoln from the Lelands for $8,000,000 while a receiver held the company. The Lelands allege a verbal agreement to buy the outstanding stock was breached.
In Deleon on November 15 police pursue Leon River search for F C Norton a 44 year old Highland farmer missing since yesterday. An abandoned truck a blood stained knife and an empty billfold are clues. Norton may have been robbed and slain. Authorities prepare to drag the river to recover a body if found.
In Chicago on November 15 an oil truck collided with a street car, throwing more than 100 passengers into a panic and injuring 18 people. Officials cited a broken steering knuckle as the cause of the collision.
New York November 15 The Standard Oil Company of New Jersey today declared the usual extra dividend of 12 cents and the regular quarterly dividend of 25 cents on common stock payable December 16 to stock of record November 26
Supt. W. A. McIntosh says students may not be to blame for damage to railroad cars on an excursion to Vernon. The trip was run by the railroad, ticket holders could ride, and school authorities could not control nonstudents. A faculty member rode to Vernon but not back. McIntosh calls for careful inquiry, promises punishment for any guilty pupils, and urges railroad staff on trains to maintain order.
United Press reports U S crude oil daily average rose to 2 465 610 barrels last week with gains in Oklahoma Seminole Greater Seminole and the Mid Continent while California slipped. West Texas held above 204 000 barrels as total U S output increased by 3 548 barrels over the prior week and a small 4 244 barrel rise is noted.
President Coolidge voiced that tariff reduction would not aid farming and noted he had not reviewed a Nagel commission report proposing tariff and railroad rate revisions to help farmers move crops. He spoke at the White House with officials presenting the ongoing considerations.
George Remus, jailed after shooting his wife as she headed to divorce court, plans to deliver his opening statement in person. He blames a “vicious conspiracy” for his downfall, claims he is poor, and says his wife and associates stole his fortune and even his library. He singles out Franklin L. Dodge Jr. as a key conspirator.
Northern Wisconsin faces worst winter blizzard in years as drifting snow reaches four feet. Ironwood Michigan reports near paralysis and similar conditions in Ashland and Ishpeming. Platte South Dakota and Black Hills saw up to six inches as rain and snow belt spreads over the northwest. Temperature plunges across Copreyville Kansas with a forty degree drop in hours.
The Interstate Commerce Commission may extend the period to publish and enforce rates under the Consolidated Southwestern cases by 60 days from February 1924. The move cites the large time and effort required to publish the rates and notes irregularities to be addressed. J. Cole of the Board of Development may prepare a brief on the extension.
In Boulder Colorado on November 15 Beva Giles Thirlaway a 17 year old grocer's son from Louisville refused a drink of moonshine. Ted Fitzhugh and Ed Hendricks both 23 pleaded guilty to assaulting Thirlaway last Friday night after stopping a car he rode with a girl companion. They face 90 days in jail.
