Brazil contracts for 460 freight rail cars from a U.S. manufacturer as part of expanding its rail network. Australia meanwhile plans to invest 3 million dollars to rejuvenate its railway system, signaling regional railway modernization.
Hundreds of Panhandle farmers insured 1941 wheat crops with government plans. Potter County signed 35 contracts, up from 22 in 1940, and statewide premiums totaled thousands of bushels and dollars with indemnities to 10,253 bushels across 2,907 acres. Texas saw 11,000 insured farmers and 1,665,236 bushels in indemnities.

City manager H R Smith reports WPA approval of field changes that will pave 16 more blocks in Amarillo. Since WPA, about 450 blocks or 30 miles have been laid at roughly one third the cost to property owners, who pay only for materials.
