Gray clouds brought rain to Amarillo and the Panhandle last night with cooler air and light sleet near Friona and Bovina. An inch of moisture fell in Amarillo while surrounding areas reported one quarter to one half inch. The U S Weather Bureau forecast partly cloudy skies tonight with possible more rain. Wheat stands to benefit from the general precipitation. Santa Fe reports extend rain to eastern Panhandle and northern New Mexico with varying amounts across towns. Fort Worth & Denver dispatches recorded these conditions.

P E Laughlin former president of Federal Trust Company of Kansas City sues Kansas City bankers for 3.34 million alleging a conspiracy to wreck three banks in which he was involved. Defendants include W S McLucas W T Kemper P W Goebel J W Perry Albert Newman C W Sheldon J G Hughes and Commerce Trust Company. Suit filed in circuit court at Independence.
Three men were beaten by hooded assailants in Pontiac Michigan after an unemployment protest. Walter Hardin Clarence Sherman and Leo Fortin returned home with marks, while Sherman alleged police involvement though officials denied off duty officers took part. One abducted man Mike Stykoff was released after proving non Communist views.

In Waco Texas on November 13 the Baptist General Convention of Texas adopted a resolution protesting a US Supreme Court ruling disqualifying Douglas Clyde MacIntosh a Yale divinity professor from citizenship for refusing to bear arms unless the war seemed morally justified. The five to four decision prompted the convention to pledge effort toward reversing the ruling or arguing its unchristian implications.
Authorities will drop efforts to link three young men arrested in Lubbock to the Optima State Bank holdup after lacking sufficient extradition evidence. Two suspects face liquor charges and one a pistol carry charge. authorities found eighteen gallons of whisky and fifty rounds in their car.

Governor Harvey Parnell announced a January 12 special election to fill the Senate seat left by the late Thaddeus H. Caraway. He offered no firm indication on a temporary appointee, while widow Hattie Caraway emerged as a possible successor in political circles.
Texas Attorney General James V. Allred denounced FTC actions after filing 17 million dollar penalties against oil firms. He said the agency cannot authorize violations of anti trust laws and attacked supporters of the suits as Republicans in high office. Gov. Ross Sterling commented only that evidence must support the suits.

In Rahway New Jersey on November 13 five armed men escaped with an $82 000 payroll from Gibbs de Hills Inc after threatening customers and staff. They seized a registered payroll pouch from paymaster J H Farrell delivered by an armored car. The band fled in a black sedan as police guarded the scene.
Fire in Nacogdoches damaged a postal sub-station and destroyed a grocery store and a cafe in the business district. Loss estimated at 15000 dollars. Public safety units responded to the scene.
