In Cambridge Massachusetts on November 12 members of the Episcopal church conducted simple funeral services for Senator Henry Cabot Lodge. Bishop William Lawrence led prayers as officials watched and mourners gathered privately. The body was later placed in the family vault near Mount Auburn Cemetery amid official wreaths and flowers.

New York November 12 The original manuscript of Kidnaped by Robert Louis Stevenson sold for 10000 at a Will iam Harris Arnold collection auction. Dr S W Rosenbach outbid Miss Belle De Acosta Greene of the J Pierpont Morgan library to secure it. The sale also include Stevenson's Requiem notebook Travels With a Donkey and other rare items. The total collection price reached 148722.
Lynchburg Va Nov 12 James K Collins of New York City lodge No 1 Elks died today bringing the total cider poison victims at the Elks National Home Bedford to ten. Sixteen aged residents were ill and confined to hospital with improvements noted today. Daniel Crowley of Summerville Mass was reported most seriously ill.
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals reversed Emio Chairez’s sentence after he was fined 100 dollars and jailed 30 days for driving into a house in El Paso. The only proof of intoxication was whisky breath, which the court ruled insufficient to establish drunkenness.
Washington November 2 official results from the twentieth Pennsylvania district shift the seat from Republican to Democrat. The next congress standings show Republicans 245 Democrats 185 Farmer-Labor 3 Socialists 0. Current congress with vacancies filled lists Republicans 223 Democrats 209 Farmer-Labor 1 Socialists 1 Independent 1.
Chicago reports a radio mobilization test for the 131st Infantry with 148 men answering in under 30 minutes after the call went out. Officers and NCOs caught the signal at home then drove to the regiment armory gathering volunteers along the way.
More than 150 ex service men and guests gathered at the American Hotel for a memorial banquet of the Hanson Post American Legion. The event recalled Western Front fighting six years earlier as veterans and families paid tribute to buddies who paid the supreme sacrifice in World War I.

In Conroe Texas three men died instantly and a fourth was badly burned by a 2800 volt live wire that fell across a sidewalk near the Delta Land and Timber plant. Victims are J R Beakley a merchant W G Rye of Milvid Texas and Travis Rye of Taylor. Injured Leslie Harris is expected to survive. Beakley leaves four children. the Rye brothers worked for Delta Land and Timber and both left widows.
Early returns from 223 of 252 counties show Ma Ferguson leading George C. Butte by 107817 votes with Ferguson at 398284 and Butte at 290467. Grimes and Carson counties added small increments to the totals as unreported counties remain.
December 8 is fixed for the murder trial of E. W. Miller and Ruth Hobart, locals charged in the death of BE. W. Hobart shot near Bivins stadium on July 14. A 200-man jury venire is drawn and the trial may exceed a week. Billie Meek’s murder case with Mrs. Bessie Sommers is set for December 1 with 90 jurors summoned.

The Vernon Lions and Amarillo Golden Sandstorm will play the decisive Confrence A District No. 1 football championship in Vernon next Monday afternoon after a prior tie. Roy B. Henderson of the UIL ruled Vernon as the site, following a disagreement over venue despite a 3500 attendance. A special train from Amarillo to Vernon is expected for the clash.
