Mrs. Lantz had lived alone since her husband James Lantz died eighteen months earlier.
The Fort Worth Association of Commerce Aerocade drew about 600 visitors in Amarillo after arriving yesterday, with 200 Amarilloans greeting the departure and a banquet at the Amarillo hotel hosted by the Board of City Development. Fort Worth officials praised local facilities and planned a See John about building showcase.

A chemical cellulose explosion at the Preble Box Toe company plant leveled a one and a half story building in Lynn Massachusetts. Eighteen people died and scores were injured as flames spread to nearby tenements. Mrs Harry Blaney and five children perished. Blaney was dying from burns and two Blaney children were badly burned. Eleven workers were killed, with two found dead in the street as their clothing burned.

Medford resident Ruth bet Joy Bunch that Hoover would carry Texas. He planned to roll a peanut six miles with a crowbar if the wager paid off, while Bunch would have rolled it only one block in Medford if Ruth had lost.
