A reader from Amarillo recounts a child’s letter to Santa asking for a doll house and other gifts. The page also lists birthdays, relocations, moving notices, visits, and community updates featuring local families, addresses, and recent travels across Texas and New Mexico.
The report notes Christian Jones being dismissed from Northwest Texas Hospital and returning home to Claude. Mrs. Nell Christian stayed nearby during his hospitalization. A birthday greeting and several visits are mentioned, including Mr and Mrs Noble Roberts at 807 Hayden and a Midland visit with Ris Préfits and W N Roberts.
Our Newer Citizens features George Garrett Collier born January 5 1929 in Florence Kansas. He came to Amarillo after applying for a machinist apprentice position with AT S F E Railroad Company and notes Amarillo was his first opportunity. He mentions his secret ambition to become a farmer and hobbies such as reading building model airplanes and railroading. He criticizes people who act like big shots and suggests improving Amarillo by tidying vacant lots and alleys. He and his wife began married life in September 1947, and he was recalled to the US Navy in August 1950.
Four year old Marilyn appears in the inked front page as unreadable. A porch swing was stolen from the Alvin Hill home at 2106 Tyler. The loss has been reported to police. Mrs. M. GC. Evats of 2301 Fillmore is recovering after surgery at St. Anthony's.
