Moscow crowds filled Red Square for a 29th anniversary parade underscoring Soviet military strength and a call for continued Russian preparedness to secure world peace. Marshal Govorov led the salute as Stalin’s presence remained uncertain and Molotov did not deliver the state address.
In the west, the Moscow radio quoted Govorov in a keynote speech promising Russia would fight untiringly for a lasting, stable, and democratic peace, insisting the effort would prevail despite intrigues from opposing forces.
A Soviet order signed by Vice Minister of Defense Nikolai Bulganin touted security and world peace while stressing constant fighting readiness. The parade featured regiments led by generals and included officers from Moscow military schools and academy students as part of a show of strength amid cautious messaging to the public.

Oklahoma City November 7 Rep. Mike Monroney Democrat and co author of the congressional reorganization bill secured re election in Oklahoma's fifth district in the closest of eight races. Unofficial totals show Monroney 46223 votes to 43118 for Republican Carmen C Harris.
U S Senator Dennis Chavez urged President Truman to convene an immediate special session to dismantle war emergency agencies including the OPA and the Civilian Production Administration. Chavez, re-elected in a landslide, said the Republican sweep warrants a fresh start for the new Congress.
Voters in Potter County show light interest in the second election day for a proposed amendment to create a veterans land board with a 25 million dollar revolving bond fund. Only about 60 votes by noon, with a single polling place on the courthouse's second floor. Polls close at 7 pm and about one third of voters identified as veterans. Statewide voting also described as very light.
Washington November 7 1950 President Truman would not be president today if Tuesday’s elections had been held in Britain. Democrats lost control of Congress to Republicans leaving a Democratic president and Republican legislature and sparking debate over constitutional practice and parliamentary contrasts.
Briefs report a formal application for paving the Amarillo to Tascosa road to be filed with the Texas Highway Commission. The proposal, under the farm to market program, is backed by Ray Daniel and a delegation including Virgil Patterson Cal Farley and Roy Eastland. An early morning head on collision near Kiowa Kansas between the westbound Grand Canyon Limited and a freight train injured several passengers and a crew member. The freight engine derailed and a coal car left the track while the passenger engine sustained damage but did not derail. Crews rushed from Wellington and Waynoka to repair the tracks.
LAREDO Nov. 7 Construction of 145 miles of fence along the Mexican border will start April 1, 1947. Rep. Milton J. West was informed by L. M. Lawson, commissioner of the International Boundary and Water Commission, who noted the project had been delayed by the war. The fence will run from seven miles above Del Rio to the Gulf of Mexico below Brownsville, responding to requests from landowners stock raisers and local citizens.
HOUSTON Nov. 7. The home of Mrs Mae Guild is sinking as a 25 foot hole beside her six room house expands. Water department officials study the watery substance in the hole while the cavity grows from 23 by 8 feet to larger dimensions. White bubbles rise from the water as the hole reactivates and threatens the entire structure.
Mickey Richignieux, a 22 year old Parisian, arrives after wartime hardship to marry American Jack Puller in Olton. The couple met in 1945 and will move to Amarillo after the church ceremony. Details depict her limited English, tastes, and views on American life as she adapts to a new country and customs.
Amarillo educator Chas M. Rogers says Texas needs at least 9 000 teachers and urges higher salaries to attract college graduates. A survey from 1 038 superintendents covering 35 874 teaching positions shows 9 272 new teachers this year 1 230 vacancies at opening and 5 730 sub standard teachers plus 2 157 classes with over 40 pupils each.
Nearly two hundred motorists were rescued from snowbound cars near Encino New Mexico by a Santa Fe Railroad work train. Rescued travelers faced hours without food or adequate clothing as drifts reached four feet. Residents of Vaughn provided warmth and meals, and a second train section aided a stranded trailer family.
Winds whipped a heavy snowfall of 15 to 20 inches burying cars along a six mile stretch of Highway between Encino and Carnero in New Mexico. Rescuers did not release names of rescued individuals. E. A. Regal Co Real Estate and Loans.
