Retired Rancher John Whitson Dies in Borger
John Madison Whitson, 96, a retired rancher and Missouri native, died at Borger Hospital at 2:30 PM. He served in the Missouri Militia during the Civil War and moved to the Panhandle over 40 years ago, living with his son George on a ranch south of Spearman. The body will be sent to Gower, Missouri, for burial. funeral arrangements were pending. The body is in state at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Borger.

Pair Jailed Here By Federal Men
Dale Kingslow and Everett Clayton of Oklahoma were held in Potter County jail on federal charges of transporting a stolen automobile across a state line. The car was stolen in Lawton and recovered in Panhandle where Sheriff Tom Harris arrested them.
