In Borger on November 7 R L Dick Carr, 38, died instantly when a truck carrying 600 quarts of nitroglycerin exploded near Deal. Carr and his truck were blown to bits, with Carr’s wife narrowly avoiding injury as she changed plans at the last minute. The blast destroyed the road and scattered small wreckage. Carr, employed by New Mexico Glycerin, lived in Borger and owed nitro to shooters in the Borger area. The incident prompted an upcoming banquet for the Fort Worth Association of Commerce Aerocade tour, with 100 reservations and plans for a 6 pm dinner at Amarillo hotel. The group, including eight women pilots, will be greeted by a city development committee at English-Bivins field. Flight plan shows 23 planes expected. arrival time adjusted to 4:30 pm.

On a San Jose hilltop home at Stanford, Herbert Hoover, 37 years after arriving as a poor student, was hailed as President Elect. The campus scene featured Sousa’s band, sky rockets, and cheers from students and friends as Hoover tearfully thanked attendees.
Hanson Post American Legion members finalized Armistice Day plans at a near full meeting led by Captain A Petersen Harve Radey outlined a two day program starting with union patriotic services at Municipal Auditorium Sunday night featuring a nationally known speaker and a formal program Monday John Boyce announced parade plans to form at 10 45 a m from the auditorium with an orderly procession through the city
President elect Herbert Hoover increased his Potter county lead to 955 votes as final returns showed 3579 for Hoover and 2624 for Smith among 6203 total ballots. Fourteen boxes backed Hoover, five backed Smith, marking Potter county’s first Republican tilt in a presidential contest.
Dallas Texas November 7 seventeen Democratic Texas congressmen have been assured election while a tight contest in the fourteenth district shifted leaders between the Democratic and Republican candidates.

In Dallas on November 7 Herbert Hoover widened his Texas lead over Alfred E. Smith to about 11,000 votes as tallies from rural counties favored the Republican. By 1:15 p.m. Hoover had 262,950 to Smith 251,892 with 234 of 253 counties reported. Governors, senators, and representatives across the state remained predominantly Democratic.
In Little Rock Arkansas additional returns show the anti evolution initiative leading by about 5 000 votes. With 500 precincts counted of 2 018, the tally reads 21 529 for the measure and 16 579 against.
Republicans expanding Senate edge to a one seat plurality and boosting their House majority as returns trickle in after the Hoover sweep.
