Prince Maximilian Von Baden Dies at 62 in Germany
Prince Maximilian Von Baden, the last imperial German chancellor and heir to Baden, died at 62 in Constance. He had suffered arterial trouble for a year, broken ribs after a fall, and was hospitalized at Salem Castle before his condition worsened. He led Germany to armistice negotiations with Wilson and the Allies in late 1918 and announced the Kaiser’s abdication, facing nationalist accusations afterward. His wife Marie Louise and their two children, Berehold and Marie Alexandra, were at his side.
