B-29 Crash Off Tampa Kills 18 Of 20 Aboard
An Air Force B-29 from the 307th Bomb Group based at MacDill Field crashed into the Atlantic near Tampa after dark during a return flight from England. Family Escapes Blaze At Freeman Home Fire
Father, mother, and a young child fled a roaring fire at the Freeman residence, 3807 East Seventeenth, about 12:55 a.m. Authorities said the house was engulfed before awakening. Firefighters, limited by hydrant distance, fought the blaze with two 500 gallon trucks. the home and furnishings were destroyed.
