Washington May 31 An agriculture department spokesman said the government has practically abandoned plans to embargo Texas and Oklahoma wheat. Carl C Parrington told the House special food committee that the plan is dropped without explanation. He warned of brief flour shortages but said there are no plans to ration or allocate bread.

Vacant Car Demolished By Train East Of Amarillo
An unoccupied 1942 Dodge sedan was demolished when struck by the westbound Santa Fe Scout at 12 17 this morning east of Amarillo on U S Highways 60 and 66. The engine crew reported a jump from the car before impact. the train was traveling about 60 mph and the matting caused a 100 minute delay. Authorities traced ownership to an Army Air Forces captain who had been with three others in the car. No injuries were reported to the occupants.
