The War Labor Board approved new store closing hours for Amarillo merchants. Most downtown stores will close at 5 p m from Monday through Friday with Saturday hours set by each store. The Eighth Regional Board in Dallas authorized earlier closing not exceeding six hours weekly.
Seaman First Class Clyde L. McLean Jr on leave from North Island San Diego arrived in Amarillo for a family gathering at the Drain home Pleasant Valley. He visits his mother Naomi McLean sister Jewel McLean and grandparents D. S. Drain 106 Bonita with guests including Mrs Bell's husband stationed at Lowry Field Colorado.
A 15 year old boy seeks yard work and asks to meet at 1704 Johnson to arrange tasks. Also notes missing studio enlargements of a husband and wife and a baby's photos in a brown envelope and offers reward for return. A colored girl seeks morning part time general housework and asks to see her at 307 Monroe.
