Amarillo Lawyer Charles Keffer Dies in Dallas at 50

Funeral plans set for 4 pm Friday in Amarillo with interment at Llano Cemetery. Keffer, a noted local attorney, collapsed in a Dallas office yesterday while visiting a firm associate. Police Stop Bird Terror in 30-Hour Phoenix Stunt

In Phoenix on May 30 police halted a dive bombing bird that terrorized a neighborhood for 30 hours. Officers shot the bird after it repeatedly dived at objects and people, injuring several and causing mothers to shelter children from potential harm.

Indian Troops Outflank Japs in Burma Action Near Toungoo

CALCUTTA May 30 Indian troops of the British 14th Army with tanks cleared 12 miles of the Manchi Road east of Toungoo and linked with forces moving to outflank Japanese retreat routes into Thailand. Other Indian units in the Irrawaddy area repulsed seven counter-attacks as the Japanese tried to keep escape routes open.

Father shoots daughter to stop romance with soldier

In Kansas City, Rev Davis, a furnace repairman, allegedly shot Lula Mae Davis after a heated argument with her over Pvt. David Sharp, a serviceman. Lula Mae died shielding Sharp. Mildred and Wanda Davis witnessed. Police pursued Davis who fled after the crime.
