Jury verdict in a flood damages suit found landowners in River Road and Pleasant Valley damaged but reduced claims from over 90000 to just over 6000. Water flow augmented by storm sewer, lands permanently damaged, dam not a remedy, homes not endangered. City offered 10000 to settle. no statement on appeal yet.
Pampa Texas May 380 Failure of R H Bartlett a prosecuting witness in the case against Sheriff E S Graves of Gray County indicted on bond money misappropriation caused court alarm. Judge W R Ewing ordered a search for Bartlett as 14 jurors were absent and only 26 of 40 subpoenas returned. The court reconvenes at 1 30 PM with possible action to be announced.
Loyal H. Anderson shot and killed his friend Will D. Martin and then killed himself in Buffalo Oklahoma. Coroner cites sudden insanity as sole motive. Both veterans, Odd Fellows members. Martin married, Anderson single. Funeral services held for both men. Buffalo is the Harpe County seat.
About 60 members of the Association of City Mail Carriers of the Eighteenth Congressional District gathered at the Municipal Auditorium for the second annual convention. Officers to be elected afternoon. resolutions to strengthen the group. next year’s convention city to be chosen. Children joined parents in lively program including memorial day address by Rev. A W Fechner.
The first Amarillo Junior College graduation features Dean T H Shelby of Texas University Extension delivering the commencement address at 8:30 pm in the Womens Club rooms City Auditorium. Diplomas and scholarship awards are presented by G G Ordway with graduates Bonita Cazzell Dorothy Staley Mrs Savage Lenna Bryant Ruth Gifford Lewis Ridings Helen Blanton Cornelia Smith.
Two street car bombings near simultaneously in New Orleans break two months of quiet. No injuries reported as 75th trolley car dynamited since last July strike. passengers and crews escape unharmed. Ambulance unit noted.

Governor Moody hesitates to oppose R S Sterling of Houston for a third term as governor. Moody, in Teague for a speaking engagement, says he would not like to run against his staunch political friend and has not announced a candidacy.
Harold John Fahring a 25 year old cadet from Lebo Kansas died after his parachute tangled on the tail of a plane he leaped from at 2000 feet four miles northwest of Tipton Oklahoma Lloyd Hunt of Cincinnati Ohio a fellow cadet survived after jumping earlier Hunt said the plane jammed and Fahring’s chute caught the tail and prevented his escape The incident followed a Fort Sill stay after a 10 hour flight from Kelly Field toward El Paso
Bobby Jones defeated George Voigt one up in the British Amateur golf championship at St Andrews and advanced to face Roger Wethered in the 36 hole final scheduled for tomorrow.
Seven federal prisoners, sent to Leavenworth and Chillcothe, leave at noon under U S Marshal B P Harper to serve terms from 21 months to one year and a day. A second group, including Corrinne Henderson and B G Puntney, go to Fort Worth to serve sentences for fines and mail fraud.
Washington may adjourn Congress on June 20 after final approval of the tariff bill. A London Naval Limitations treaty session would follow, with hopes to finish by July 4. Opponents prepare to wage a relentless fight against the pact amid mounting testimony from the Navy and other critics.
