Living Buddha Turns Traitor In Coalition Campaign
Dispatches from the Tibetan border report 800 Buddhist priests killed by Communist troops in Sikang province. The Nana or living Buddha of eastern Tibet allegedly helped the invaders then fled with 5,000 rifles, was captured by Changpa natives and turned over to the Communists. The crackdown follows brutal killings and a shift to protection and food promises to win locals. About 100,000 royal nationalist troops clash with 100,000 Communist forces along Sikang and Szechwan.
