Oil Field Worker Killed by Elevator Accident

Jimmie Harris a 27 year old oil field worker died Thursday at the Grady and Gist well on his father's farm four miles south of Butcher when an elevator fell from the derrick striking the back of his head. He was a World War veteran and survived by his parents three sisters and three brothers.

Motorcycle Officer Albright Recovers Two Snakes on Beat

Officer F. A. Albright, known as Gus, arrests two snakes found fighting on his San Jacinto beat. He paroled them to Basecoe's Accessories, where they remain in a jail show window. Albright is praised for handling reptiles and other animals and has over a year on the force. The hotel coffee shop, Amarillo, touts itself as Famous for Food.

Lindbergh Honored Like Great US Heroes in Paris

Paris on May 26 hailed Charles Lindbergh with enraptured crowds along the Champs Elysees and Rue Rivoli as 100000 Parisians welcomed the New York to Paris flyer. The city declared a holiday and prepared a formal reception at the city hall with 8000 inside and 20000 outside cheering their hero. Officials unfurled a new flag combining French and American emblems as traffic halted for the spectacle.

Typhoon Hits Philippines Wrecks Coast and Manila Isolation

A May typhoon struck central Luzon causing extensive property damage especially to sugar cane. Manila was isolated as communications to 18 provinces failed and ships crowded the harbor. An Australian tanker broke from its mooring during heavy rain and crashed into the pier, while a navy seaplane was wrecked.

Shelton Gang Leaders Freed On $25 000 Bond

Three Shelton brothers Carl Ernie and Bernie leaders of a Southern Illinois gang faction were freed on 25000 bond each pending retrial on mail robbery charges. They were released after a federal court granted a new trial citing rival Harve Dungys perjured testimony at the first trial.

Graduates To Get Diplomas Tonight At Amarillo High

Final commencement exercises at the Amarillo high school will be held at the city auditorium tonight with graduates receiving diplomas. Norfleet Arrests Man in Pennsylvania

J. C. Nelson, indicted for swindling over fifty dollars, was jailed here after giving a $155 check to the Thistle Dining Room last August. Nelson was arrested at Connorsburg, Pennsylvania last week by J. Frank Norfleet of Hale Center and brought here to answer the indictment.

Sanford Well Explosion Kills One In Borger Area

A deadly explosion at a McMillan Oil well near Sanford, fifteen miles from Borger, left one man dead identified as Frank Eniels, with four others dying and seven hospitalized. Rescuers rushed to retrieve missing workers as fire torches gas reservoirs, and officials readied firefighting and water efforts to curb the blaze in the Paramount field.
