Special Correspondence from Houston reports unofficial plans place Amarillo Mayor Ernest O. Thompson to take office as State Railroad Commissioner on June 1. Former Gov. Pat M. Neff will resign May 30 to become Baylor University president. Thompson expected to be notified officially and sworn in in Austin June 1 as Neff’s successor.

Testimony in the Pampa liquor conspiracy trial wrapped for noon as the government opened with a motion to dismiss charges against four more defendants and 16 defendants remain to face the jury.
