In Lubbock on May 21, Holman former Garza County deputy sheriff Hopper Shelton publisher of the Ruby Star Record and two Post residents faced federal charges for conspiring to violate liquor taxation laws. Shelton and the two Post men pleaded guilty while Holman stood not guilty. Williams testified he served as a dishwasher at a Post cafe and aided bootlegging for 25 cents per pint.
