Greece charges acts of aggression planned by neighboring states

Geneva May 20 Greek representative Alexander Kyrou told the United Nations Bar Commission that Yugoslavia Albania and Bulgaria were planning new aggressions against Greece. He alleged the three neighbors sought to sever Macedonia and western Thrace from Greece as a political maneuver.

Bull roams Ellwood Park as city workers chase Brahman bull

City workers and poundmaster Bob Parsley corral a Brahman bull in Ellwood Park after it roamed from the west end toward Van Buren. Wagoner is Claimed by Death in Panhandle Ranching Family

James E. Ed Wagoner 63 prominent ranch and livestock businessman died at his Groom home from a heart attack. Survived by widow Annie Laurie and four sons Robert Hereford William Pampa Joe Vick, brother Art Wagoner and sister Mrs Farley of Groom, six grandchildren. Funeral Wednesday at the Groom Methodist Church with Masonic graveside rites under Blackburn Shaw. He was a native of Illinois born October 1883 and long known in Panhandle cattle work.

Crowds Flock To Welcome Bob Hope In Amarillo

A throng of Amarilloans gathered near the east side of English Field to greet Bob Hope and the Constellation as it approached. About 4 thousand cars entered early, with 5 thousand expected by 2:00 pm. Labor Dept Stages End to Major Phone Strike

The Labor Department announced a settlement ending the last major telephone strike dispute. The agreement gives a 11 4 cents per hour average wage rise for 20 000 Association of Communication Equipment Workers, covering Western Electric workers in 42 states. A no strike clause and arbitration provisions accompany the deal pending union ratification and could enable resumption of work tomorrow morning.

Army Pilot Who Bailed Out Washes Ashore After Long Swim

First Lt. Hubert W. Gainer of Freeport an Army P forty seven pilot bailed out over Long Island after bad weather. He drifted seven hours before washing ashore near Breezy Point. Rescued by Mrs Grace Cornwell he reached land at 5 30 AM and was taken to Mitchell Field Hospital uninjured aside from bruises.

German Generals Executed on Crete Anniversary

In Athens on May 2 two German generals were executed for war crimes tied to Crete killings. Lt. Gen. Frederick Wilhelm Muller and Lt. Gen. Brano Oswald Breuer faced a special court after appeals were rejected. Muller ordered 1096 Crete natives killed. Breuer ordered reprisals for attacks on German troops. The generals declared defiant last words and refused blindfolds.

The region faces considerable cloudiness and a modest rise in temperatures. Tonight and Wednesday remain partly cloudy with little temperature change, while the Panhandle and South Plains warm more in the afternoon. Thundershowers are noted in El Paso and the Big Bend with showers east of the Pecos River and in the Del Rio Eagle Pass area. New Mexico shows scattered thundershowers today tonight and Wednesday with cooler pockets and light frost inland tonight. Highs around 79, overnight near 50, with rainfall around 0.70 inches.
