El Paso May 13 Registration papers for a black 1936 Plymouth sedan from California, found near the desert east of Van Horn where Mrs. Weston G. Frome and her daughter Nancy were slain, are considered a potentially crucial clue by sheriff officials. Fort Bliss soldiers reported the papers found in a bush two miles from the crime scene. The vehicle papers list a California address in Fresno County and the holder as a farm laborer named Helm.
MOBILE Alabama May 13 Julian T Baker of Houston Texas member of the U S secret service addressed the Alabama Bankers Association convention predicting that high school students will be taught to detect counterfeit money It is believed that a study of printing and engraving values applied to currency will be included in curricula and that youth must learn to recognize money The note aims to teach that a genuine one dollar bill represents 100 cents
J P Moore Jr of 813 Sunset presented a scrapbook at Amarillo High School project on commercial law. The volume contains the state seal and official letterhead from every state and U.S. territory, drawing considerable interest from students and staff.
Final approval backed a bill granting President Roosevelt discretion to decide on building 45 000 ton dreadnoughts. Critics warned such ships would thrust the United States into a world armament race risking a new major conflict.

The Social Security Board reports lump-sum old age insurance payments are being approved at about one per 30 seconds on working days. In early April the Washington offices certified roughly 740 payments daily, with 436 death claims and 304 by workers turning 65. The typical lump-sum is about 39 dollars, based on wages since January 1, 1937, up to age 65 or death.
